Tautoko Services is registered by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority as a Private Training Establishment, delivering training about disability support to those who are already working in the sector and potential workers for the sector.

Our mission is to improve the quality of disability services through our training activities and facilitate social change that will enable disabled people to lead valued lives in the community. Our name Tautoko means support. The Kauri tree is our symbol - it represents our focus on enhancing the strength and potential for growth for the people we work with.

Special Character

The features that set Tautoko Services apart from other providers are that we:
  • focus specifically on the disability sector workforce
  • provide face to face work-based delivery
  • employ highly skilled professionals from the disability sector
  • our trainers are all active practitioners in the disability sector
We work closely with the key ITOs to upskill the current disability workforce and to support the development of new training to meet industry needs. We work closely with employers to promote the transfer of new learning into the workplace and match skills to need.

We operate from a strong value base of inclusion for disabled people and support the New Zealand Disability Strategy. Disabled people are involved in the development of our training material and as presenters on particular topics. Up to date material from disabled people in a variety of formats, oral, written and visual is regularly sourced and included to ensure peoples’ voices are heard.

Tautoko Services delivers unit standards specific to the Treaty of Waitangi and communication with tangata whenua in a marae setting as part of our programmes. Our staff link with local iwi and marae in each area we deliver programmes.
