Our body is very clever and takes what it needs from the food and drink we have every day. What the body does not need comes out as wees and poos. The brain tells the body when it is time to go to the toilet. It is important that you listen to your brain and go to the toilet when you need to go and do wees and poos. This can happen at any time so you need to be listening to your brain. Well done!!!!
When we eat and drink, our body needs to get rid of the waste it creates. We get rid of waste through wees and poos. The best place to get rid of wees and poos is by using the toilet and then washing our hands straight afterwards. When I eat and drink, me food and water goes down into my stomach. My stomach then uses this to give me strength and energy. It gets rid of what it doesn’t use.
Our body can tell us when it is time to go to the toilet to get rid of this waste by making a special feeling just below our stomach for wees, or in our bottom for poos. When this feeling happens I should tell someone that I want to go to the toilet. Sometimes my Mum and Dad and the teachers at school will remind me that I should go. When they do this, I can try and go wees or poos in the toilet. I can also try not to be angry with them for reminding me. If I do try to go to the toilet and wash my hands then people will be very happy with me.
Remember how our body works. Food and drink go into our mouth and is processed in our stomach and intestines. When our body has taken all the goodness out of the food, it pushes the waste out our bottoms as poos. When you have poos to come out, your body will send a special signal that tells you that it is time to go to the toilet. Sometimes if you are busy with friends, it is hard for that signal to get through. If sneaky poos have been hiding there all day at school, it can be even harder for the signal to get through and sometimes your poos sneak out.
A really good way to beat sneaky poos when the signal is not working well is to go to the toilet and put sneaky poos in the right place at the right time every day. Two times I could go to the toilet are, in the morning before I go to school and in the afternoon straight after I come home from school. If I do this, I can beat sneaky poos by putting them in the right place at the right time. This will mean that I do not smell, and Mum and Dad and other people will be very pleased with me. They will think that I am growing up and showing them that I am clever.
Now that I am a big boy, I can do poos and wees in the toilet. When I get a feeling that I need to do poos or wees, I try to remember to go and sit on the toilet to do poos, or stand in front of the toilet to do wees.
All big boys try to use the toilet when they get the feeling that tells their body it’s time to do poos and wees. When big boys have done poos or wees in the toilet, they get some toilet paper and wipe their bottom. I put the paper when I have used it, in the toilet and then I pull up my undies and my pants.
Then I flush the toilet. When I flush the toilet, all the poos and wees and toilet paper gets flushed away.
After I have finished in the toilet, I try to remember to wash my hands with soap and water, and then dry them. This is how big boys use the toilet.
